Cocktail Tutorial: Daiquiri

Daiquiri

A classic cocktail from cuba, which is actually a simple rum sour. In the recent years, the frozen variation has gained more fame than the original form.

If gomme syrup cannot be obtained, using simple sugar syrup or granulated sugar is fine. When using granulated sugar, ensure sugar particles are fully dissolved before adding ice. Caster sugar is preferable to brown sugar, as it dissolves faster. Also, dissolve sugar in lime juice first before adding rum, as sugar does not dissolve easily in alcohol.

Type: Apéritif
 Method: Shake
Glass: Cocktail glass
Garnish: Lime wheel

IBA official recipe

4.5 cl. White Rum
2.0 cl. Fresh lemon or lime juice
0.5 cl. Gomme syrup
Pour all ingredients into shaker with ice cubes.
Shake well. Strain in chilled cocktail glass.
